Thoughts On Favre

August 3rd, 2008
There are a couple of things that I don’t get. Who coordinated Rodgers as the next coming? I understand about worrying about the future, but you are coming off a season where you were a fumble recovery away from going to the Super Bowl. It’s not like they were 3-13 last year, looking like it was going to be another lousy season and it was time for a change. Plus, they drafted Brian Bhrom,  so there is a plan C if they ended up losing Rodgers after this season. But if the Packers genuinely don’t want him, then trade him and do something helpful for the team. Why pay a first ballot Hall of Famer and the face of the franchise 13 million to hold a clipboard when you can get maybe a first round pick? How fair is it to Rodgers to have Farve on the bench? You would think that there would be groans for Farve every time Rodgers does anything wrong. It’s not fair at all. If they don’t think he is good enough to lead them to a title, then why should it matter where he plays? Let him play for the Vikings and then you should be able to eat him up twice a year. It’s a no win for everyone, the organization, Farve and the fans who want him. Personally if it was my decision, #4 would be taking the snap from center on opening day.

University Scouts Can Help

August 3rd, 2008
Growing up, we all have visions of hitting a grand slam in the World Series for the Yankees. Or, maybe scoring the winning touchdown for the Cowboys. Hitting a big three pointer for the Lakers, or scoring an overtime goal for the Red Wings. The point is we all love to dream big, heck that’s why they call them dreams. Same thing goes for college. It’s always scoring a touchdown for Michigan against Ohio State. Or hitting a buzzer beater for North Carolina at Duke. Sure everyone would love to go and play for such wonderful schools. Not everyone will have that opportunity. Don’t forget Division one schools aren’t the only ones who offer scholarships.  There are plenty of opportunities that are out there. You just need to know how to find them.

Technology is a wonderful thing. People today have the capability to do everything from order food to buy a car to book a vacation from their computer. Kids today can take virtual tours of college campuses from the comfort of their bedrooms. There was none of this when I was thinking about college. I wish that there was a service that would help me get the attention of a school that I was interested in. Help is now available.

University Scouts was created to help kids get the attention of coaches and athletic directors around the country. They will help you decide and reach out to the schools that you want to attend. Whether it is division I, II or III.  Also, it doesn’t matter what sport you play. They have it covered, whether it is football, basketball, swimming or even track and field. The University Scouts specialists will help you create that special profile that will get you noticed.  Take advantage of the tools that are out there. These are very trying economic times we are in. Why not take advantage of the million of dollars that are given away by colleges in the form of scholarships every year? The Michigans and Notre Dames of the world are not going to come knocking on everyone’s door. But there are plenty of schools out there. All you need is the right tool to get noticed and University Scouts is that tool.

Steps Student Athletes be taking to Get Noticed by College Coaches.

1. Get Good Grades- not a joke, keeping a good GPA and scoring well on SAT and ACT exams is an important asset to have.

2. Make a Highlight Video- tape your games , put togerther a video that shows your talents.

3. Work Hard- Leadership and Hustle are great qualities all coaches will notice.

4. Explore you options- you should look into a wide variety of schools and programs before narrowing down your choices

5.Make Contact- writing letters, sending emails and making phone calls to coaches is a very important step to take.

6. Use a Recruiting Service- recruiting services offers endless amounts of information as well as advice along with the ability to create a profile that you can email to a coach which will give you even more exposure. Many colleges and coaches don’t have the resources to go out and recruit so they use services such as ours to help them find what they are looking for in a student athlete.
